Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe

What’s up The OVC,

I had the opportunity to check out the LA Film Festival this past summer. I guess this is kind of a belated post, but still blog worthy.

While at the Festival I saw Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe. For everyone who doesn’t know of David Choe, he is a very influential contemporary artist and illustrator from LA. Anyway, Dirty Hands is a documentary of Choe’s life.

The film shows the life and crimes of David from 2000-2007. During this time Choe was hitchhiking and train hopping all over the world, looking for dinosaurs in the Congo, being thrown in solitary confinement while in Tokyo, and much more.

The documentary also shows his struggles to make it as an illustrator, his brief time in art school, his graffiti missions, as well as his commercial success.

If you’re into illustration or watching awesome stuff then you should check it out. Also see some of Choe’s artwork and design work on his website.
