SUGGESTIONS:
Think about having your stencils designed, printed, and possibly even cut before you arrive. Here are some references and tutorials on how to make stencils from images:
single layer design from photo using photoshop
3 layer design from photo using photoshop
2 layer design from photo using photoshop and illustrator
single layer design from a magazine photo by hand
After you print out your design you will need to transfer it to a thicker material that will be your stencil. Cardstock, chipboard, and manila filing folders work good; you need something that the paint will not seep through. Glue your printout to the stencil material and cut out your design with an xacto knife.
You also need to think about what you are going to stencil your design onto. Some ideas: canvas, fabric, tshirts, bags, paper, cardboard, wood, thrift store paintings, underwear, your skin.
