So we just got permission from the head of the art group of Open Office to let you in on whats going on.
Open Office is a software suite that is built to be a total office program. I havent had Microsoft Office on my computer for 2 years now. Generally you can simply download it, but recently many of the Linux Operating Systems have been pre-installing the software. It’s really awesome software and rarely do I even notice a difference from a MS product.
Best thing is, Its totally free. With thousands of people working on it I decided to get into the Art group to see if I could help out at all. I’ve been pretty busy lately and haven’t been able to jump in on anything but I started reading last night.
There is a world wide conference coming up for OpenOffice.org developers in Italy. They will be focusing on the new switch to OOo 4.0 and Getting the software out there. They will also be choosing a new Logo.

The brief can be found here:

There are two ways to submit logos, you can join the art group and submit on your own or I can upload it on your behalf.

We think this is a real opportunity to be seen around the world and be apart of a large open community.

There is no compensation, besides world exposure and the conference is on Nov 3d. so they want logos to try and be in by the 24th.

So if you have the time you should really check it out.
