Hey folks, welcome to the fall 2008 premiere of the OVC! We will hold our first official meeting soon, so check back on the site for dates and times. Also check around for flyers throught the art building for more info as well. That will be a regular thing. I was glad to see so many faces show up for the unofficial meeting/call for leadership last week. A few things mention to from that meeting:

• We need new officers;  So if you want to run for president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer,  make it known at the next meeting or before. It’s not a difficult job, but it does take commitment, so no foolin’ around.
• we also need blog writers, (like me!) to write up about the latest in design, cool websites, helpful tools, tips, etc.
• We had a lot of great ideas floating around, and with our new advisor, we’ll be able to make them happen. Speakers, competitions, critiques, developing new connections with design community, and more of  a web presence.
• Committees. We need ‘em. Social/party, speaker, poster/flyer design, web, these are some of the committees we need volunteers for.
• PAAAARTY! We had some awesome social events last year. These kind of things are not only fun, but also a way to meet some like minded individuals and get to know each other. We’re all friends here folks
• We will be doing interviews with designers and creative directors; we’ll get to pick their brains see what they look for in up and coming designers such as ourselves.
• FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. We’ll be trying to get more food at some of the meetings. I’m not promising anything, but we understand us college students’ insatiable appetite for snacking.

Remember folks, this is just a jumping off point. This semester is the start of making ourselves known throughout DFW. We can’t let UNT show us up! Represent! Till next time,
